Croissants

Spicewithwangui presents you a simple and easy recipe for croissants to prepare at home for yourself, loved ones and guests. The best snack to take for breakfast, 10 o’clock or 4 o’clock. Scroll down to check out the recipe and ingredients you need.

Ingredients you need:

  • 3 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon of dry yeast
  • 1 cup of warm milk
  • 1/4 cup of sugar (brown/regular)
  • 250g of margarine or butter
  • 1 egg mixed with 1 tablespoon of milk (egg wash)
  • 1 teaspoon of salt

Recipe:

  • Put 1 cup of warm mix with 1/4 cup of sugar and 1 tablespoon of dry yeast. Cover it and let it sit for 10 minutes
  • Sieve 2 cups of all-purpose flour add 1 teaspoon of salt to the flour
  • Add 3 tablespoons of margarine/ butter to the flour.
  • Mix it well using your fingers until the flour feels and looks like breadcrumbs
  • Make a hole in the middle, add the milk and yeast mixture.
  • Have 1/2 cup -3/4 cup of flour nearby, add as you mix the dough
  • Knead the dough on a clean dusted surface until it’s soft
  • Cover the dough and let it rest for 1-2 hours
  • Dust your surface area and rolling pin
  • Roll your dough in a rectangular shape and spread margarine on the dough
  • Fold the dough by bringing one of the long ends to the middle and place the other end on top ( as shown in the pictures above)
  • Spread the dough, fold the dough again, do this thrice
  • Making a big rectangular dough
  • Brush vegetable oil on your baking tray, place a baking paper
  • Place the dough on the baking tray cover it with clear foil paper and freeze it for 1 hour
  • Divided the dough into two
  • Spread each dough using a rolling pin.
  • Slice the dough evenly into squares then slice each square into two diagonally
  • Make a small cut into the dough at the base
  • Roll the dough from the base
  • Place the croissants dough on the baking paper
  • Preheat the oven for about 5- 10 minutes
  • Beat one egg and mix it with 1 tablespoon of milk to make an egg wash
  • Brush the egg wash gently on each croissant dough
  • Bake the croissants for 25 minutes at 375F
  • After baking, let the croissants cool for about 20 minutes before serving them with your favorite cup of tea/ coffee. Bon appétit!
