Cinnamon bread with raisins and sesame seeds

Have you always wanted to bake your own bread? Check out cinnamon bread recipe spiced up with raisins and sesame seeds. It is perfect for breakfast and 4o’clock tea. It is very simple to bake and take only 20-25 minutes to bake.

Ingredients you need:

  • 4 and 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon of dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup of sugar and 3 tablespoons of sugar
  • 1 cup of milk
  • 1/2 cup of warm water
  • 1/4 cup of melted butter or margarine
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/4 cup of raisins
  • 1 and 1/2 tablespoons of cinnamon powder
  • 1 tablespoon of vanilla essence
  • 2 tablespoons of sesame seeds
  • 3 eggs
  • Vegetable oil

Recipe:

  • In a bowl put 1 cup of milk, 1/2 cup of warm water, and 1 tablespoon of dry yeast. Let it sit for 10 minutes. It helps to activate the yeast.
  • Add 2 eggs and whisk the mixture.
  • In the same bowl add 1/2 cup of melted butter, 1/4 cup of sugar. 1/4 cup of raisins, 1 tablespoon of vanilla essence, sprinkle 1/2 teaspoon of salt. Mix the ingredients well and let the salt and the sugar dissolve.
  • In a separate bowl, sieve 4 and 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour.
  • Add the flour in the wet ingredients in portions as you mix well. You can add some more flour-like an extra cup if the dough is still sticky.
  • After mixing sprinkle some all-purpose flour on a table and knead the dough.
  • Place the dough in a container, brush vegetable oil on the dough and cover it with a clear foil paper and a clean cloth. Let it rise for 1 hour.
  • Meanwhile, prepare the baking tin(s). Brush vegetable oil generously in the baking tin(s) and place baking paper.
  • In a small bowl mix 3 tablespoons of sugar and 1 and 1/2 tablespoons cinnamon powder
  • 1 hour later, sprinkle all-purpose flour on your working space and rolling pin. Divide the dough into two. Roll each dough in a circular shape.
  • Melt 2 tablespoons of butter or margarine and apply on each dough.
  • Sprinkle cinnamon and sugar mixture on top and also sprinkle a handful of raisins on each dough.
  • Roll the dough starting from the furthest end and tuck the ends. Gently place each dough in the baking tins
  • Cover the baking tins using a clean cloth and let it rise for 30 minutes.
  • Beat 1 egg mix it with two tablespoons of water. Brush the egg wash on each dough.
  • Put 2 tablespoons of sesame seeds on a container and sprinkle the sesame seeds on the dough.
  • Preheat the oven for 5 minutes.
  • Bake the bread for 20-25 minutes at 375F
  • Gently remove the bread from the baking tins and place them on a rack or clean surface. Let it cool for about an hour before cutting. (Cutting the bread before it cools will make it collapse and mess up the bread.)
  • Brush some vegetable oil on the bread as it cools.
  • Serve the bread with a hot cup of tea or coffee and enjoy it. Bon appĆ©tit
