Sandwich served with baked beans

Sandwich and baked beans are best served for breakfast accompanied by fruits or vegetables. This combo is a well-balanced diet to start your day with. Sandwich and baked are very simple to prepare and also delicious. Scroll below to check out a simple sandwich recipe as well as baked beans.

Ingredients you need for a sandwich:

  • Sandwich cheese slices
  • A loaf of bread either brown or white
  • Ham
  • 1 cup of milk
  • 1 tablespoon of cinnamon powder
  • 3 tablespoons of sugar
  • A pinch of salt
  • 1 teaspoon of ginger powder
  • 1 egg
  • Vegetable oil

Ingredients for baked beans:

  • 500 grams of navy beans or white beans
  • 1 onion
  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • 4 tablespoons of ketchup
  • 1 and a half tablespoons of tomato paste
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 tablespoon of garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon of chilli (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon of sugar
  • Water

(sugar comes in to counter the metallic taste from the tomato paste but it is optional if the tomato paste is well cooked and there’s no metallic taste)

Recipe for sandwich:

  • In a bowl, put 1 cup of milk, 3 tablespoons of sugar, 1 tablespoon of cinnamon powder, 1 teaspoon of ginger powder, a pinch of salt, and 1 egg. Mix the ingredients and put it aside
  • On a chopping board, take one slice of bread. Place 1 slice of ham, place a cheese slice on top, and cover with another slice of bread.
  • Do this for the rest of the sandwiches.
  • Use a nonstick pan, put 1 tablespoon of oil. Heat the oil. Meanwhile, deep the sandwiches in the milk mixture not for too long. Just enough to wet the slices and do that for the other side and gently place it on the nonstick pan.
  • Flip gently to make a french toast as well on the other side. Until it turns golden brown. This takes around 2 minutes per sandwich.
  • Do this for the rest.
  • Turn off the heat, place the sandwiches a plate. Cut the sandwiches diagonally and serve.
  • Your sandwiches are ready, the bread is crunchy and very tasty, the cheese has already started melting. Best served while hot.

Recipe for the baked beans:

  • Wash the beans
  • Soak the beans overnight a minimum of 8 hours
  • Boil the beans for about 1 and a half hours. Make sure the water is enough to cover the beans. After 1 hour check the beans if they are not well cooked add some water and let it boil for another 30 minutes.
  • If there’s any excess water drain the water.
  • In a cooking pot, put well-chopped onions, grated garlic, and some vegetable oil to fry the onions and garlic.
  • Add 1 1/2 tablespoons of tomato paste. Mix well and let it cook
  • Add 4 tablespoons of ketchup. Mix and let it blend in with the tomato paste.
  • Add 1 tablespoon of garam masala, 1 teaspoon of black pepper, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, and 1 teaspoon of chilli powder but this is optional.
  • Mix well and add 1 cup of water and let it simmer under medium heat.
  • Taste the sauce if there is a metallic taste add 1 tablespoon of sugar it helps in sweetening the sauce and counter the metallic taste from the tomato paste.
  • Add the baked beans, add 1/2 cup of water cover the cooking pot and let the beans blend with the spices and the sauce to thicken. This should take about 10 minutes.
  • Turn off the heat and serve the baked beans with a sandwich for breakfast alongside a cup of tea/ coffee or a glass of juice and fruit to have a well-balanced meal for breakfast. Enjoy your breakfast.
