Chicken Stew

Chicken stew is most people’s favourite dish. It is also one of the easiest ways to prepare chicken at home. It can be served with ugali and vegetables, mashed potatoes, matoke, rice, pilau, etc. Scroll down to check the ingredients and recipe.

Ingredients:

  • 500g of (broiler) chicken
  • 2 stems of fresh rosemary
  • 4 cloves of garlic
  • 2 teaspoons of salt
  • 2 small onions/ 1 big onion
  • 2 tomatoes
  • 1/2 green pepper
  • 1 teaspoon of tomato paste
  • 1 beef cube
  • 2 tablespoons of black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon of garam masala
  • 1 tablespoon of cumin powder
  • 1 tablespoon of soy sauce

Recipe:

  • Wash the chicken, put the chicken in a cooking pot
  • Add 2 cups of water, 2 stems of rosemary, 2 grated cloves of garlic, sprinkle 1 teaspoon of salt, and 1 tablespoon of black pepper.
  • Cover the cooking pot and let it boil for 15-20 minutes under medium heat.
  • Drain the broth in a bowl and remove the chicken from the cooking pot
  • Using the same cooking pot put 2 chopped onions, 1/2 chopped green pepper, 2 grated cloves of garlic, and vegetable oil.
  • Fry the onions until they turn golden brown.
  • Add 2 chopped tomatoes, sprinkle 1 teaspoon of salt, and 1 beef cube.
  • Mix and cover the pot for 2 minutes and let the tomatoes get cooked.
  • Add the spices: 1 tablespoon of black pepper, garam masala, cumin powder, and 1/2 teaspoon of tomato paste.
  • Mix, add some broth and cover the cooking pot for about 2 minutes.
  • Put the chicken in the cooking pot and mix.
  • Add 1 tablespoon of soy sauce mix it with chicken.
  • Add broth to the amount you would like, cover the pot and let it cook for about 5-7 minutes.
  • Turn off the heat, serve your chicken with your favourite dish. Bon appétit!
