Simple sourdough bread

This type of sourdough bread is very easy to prepare. It doesn’t need rolling or kneading. Very few ingredients are needed for this recipe. The type of bread you need for breakfast, soft inside and crunchy outside.

Ingredients needed:

  • 1 tablespoon of dry yeast
  • 2 tablespoons of sugar
  • 1/2 cup of warm milk
  • 150 ml of plain/ vanilla yoghurt
  • 2 and 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup of water

Recipe:

  • Mix 1/2 cup of warm milk, 1 tablespoon of dry yeast, and 2 tablespoons of sugar in a bowl. Let it sit for about 10-15 minutes.
  • In a separate bowl, sieve 2 and 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour.
  • Sprinkle 1/2 teaspoon of salt in the flour and mix.
  • Make a hole in the flour pour in the yeast mixture and 3 tablespoons of yoghurt first.
  • Mix then pour in the remaining yoghurt and mix until it’s soft
  • Brush 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil on the dough and cover it for about 1-2 hours
  • Using a scraper gently remove the dough from the bowl.
  • Gently stretch the dough into a rectangular shape without compressing the dough.
  • Fold in the ends and roll the dough into a ball.
  • Sprinkle some flour in the bowl and put the dough back for about 10 minutes to take a round shape.
  • Sprinkle 1 tablespoon of all-purpose flour on the dough.
  • Brush oil on your baking tray and place the parchment paper on top.
  • Gently remove the dough from the bowl facing upside down.
  • Using a sharp knife, cut the dough 4 inches long and 2 inches deep
  • Preheat your oven for about 5 minutes.
  • Sprinkle or spray some water on the dough before putting it in the oven.
  • Bake it for 40 minutes at 225 F.
  • Let it cool for about 30 minutes before slicing the sourdough bread.
  • You can serve it with your favourite cup of tea or coffee and you can apply your favourite butter. Bon appĆ©tit!
